Zemanski and Nanchoff Join Portland

Is new Timbers Head Coach Caleb Porter attempting to acquire all the players in MLS who once played for him at the University of Akron?  Time will tell, but for sure his two latest pickups are guys he is not only saving from their less-than-desirable situations they went through in 2012, but they’re also guys who have the potential to play big roles in the Timbers’ drive to get into the playoffs in 2013 and to defend their Cascadia Cup title along the way.

Today, Portland announced that it traded a 2015 Supplemental Draft pick for the right of first refusal to Michael Nanchoff and that it traded allocation money and the right of first refusal to former Chivas defender Jonathan Bornstein for Ben Zemanski.  Click the links to read the respective stories on http://www.portlandtimbers.com
