2012 Week 13 Review

It was back to business for MLS this weekend, after two weeks off thanks to FIFA.  Only two of our guys got time in the games, but with many contests in the upcoming weeks for their teams, they’re sure to get some action.

Evan Bush [Concord Township/Lake Catholic] & Sinisa Ubiparipovic [Mentor/Mentor] Montreal Impact •  Curb-stomped Seattle 4-1 in the inaugural game in their new home, Saputo Stadium (pictured at right).  No love for Ubiparipovic or Bush, as both were unused subs, but at least Bush was the backup on Saturday, instead of this season’s usual “not on gameday roster.”    This week: @ Chivas USA, Wednesday, 20 June, 1030pm; @ Houston Dynamo, Saturday, 23 June, 730pm

Chris Korb [Gates Mills/University School] – DC United •  0-1 loss at Philadelphia on Saturday.  Korb was not in the gameday 18.    This week: @ New York Red Bulls, Sunday, 24 June, 7pm – match to be televised live on NBC Sports Network

Justin Morrow [Cleveland/St. Ignatius] – San Jose Earthquakes •  No game this past weekend.    This week: @ Colorado Rapids, Wednesday, 20 June, 930pm; @ Real Salt Lake, Saturday, 23 June, 9pm

Darlington Nagbe [Lakewood/St. Edward] – Portland Timbers •  Lost 0-1 at Los Angeles on Sunday and Nagbe played all 90 as offensive mid/one of the forwards.    This week: @ Seattle, Sunday, 24 June, 5pm – match to be televised live on ESPN

Michael Nanchoff [North Royalton/Walsh Jesuit] – Vancouver Whitecaps •  1-0 home win against Colorado on Saturday.  Nanchoff was an unused sub that day, but played all 90 in a 3-1 reserve team home defeat at the hands of their Galaxy counterparts last Tuesday.    This week: v New York Red Bulls, Wednesday, 20 June, 11pm

Ben Speas [Stow/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy] & Josh Williams [Copley/Copley] – Columbus Crew •  0-0 draw in New England on Saturday night.  Williams played all 90 at center back.  Speas was not in the gameday 18 on Saturday night, but did play the final 23 minutes of the Crew reserves’ 1-0 loss at New England the following day.    This week: @ Chicago Fire , Saturday, 23 June, 830pm

Kenney Walker [Wickliffe/Wickliffe] – Los Angeles Galaxy •  Won 1-0 at home against Portland on Sunday, but Walker was not in the gameday 18.  And from the ‘Better Late Than Never’ category, I can report that Walker did play all 90 in the Galaxy reserves’ 3-1 win over the Whitecaps reserves on Tuesday, 12 June.  The Little G’s, as I like to call them, are now unbeaten in their last four matches.    This week: @ Real Salt Lake, Wednesday, 20 June, 9pm; v Vancouver, Saturday, 23 June, 1030pm

Ben Zemanski [Akron/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy] – Chivas USA •  Took it on the chin in a 3-0 home loss to Real Salt Lake on Saturday night.  Zemanski played 90 at center mid in his MLS return to action, following a injury absence.    This week: v Montreal Impact, Wednesday, 20 June, 1030pm; @ FC Dallas, Saturday, 23 June, 9pm – match to be televised live on Galavisión
